Posts 34 		CHASKA, Minn. (AP)—Sergio Garcia’s news conferences at the majors are starting to sound like therapy sessions.
There is the critique of his game, usually found to be lacking in some area or another. There are the questions about his psyche, whether golf is as “fun” as it was when he was that fresh-faced teenager with the cool “El Nino” nickname. And then, of course, the big one:
After that spectacular showdown with Tiger Woods at the 1999 PGA Championship, why has he not won a major already?
“After ’99, I didn’t come home and say, `Oh, because of what I did at the PGA, I should win eight majors in the next six or seven years,” Garcia said Wednesday. “No. You try to play your best and give yourself chances and win as many as you can. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t.
“I’ve had my chances,” he added. “Unfortunately, I haven’t taken them, but it’s just a matter of keep going, keep going at it, and believing that you can do it.”
Garcia isn’t even being mentioned as a factor at this week’s PGA at Hazeltine National (one top-10 finish this year will do that to a guy). Unfortunately for him, this is the 10th anniversary of that duel that seemed to herald golf’s next great rivalry for the ages. With his “oh-for-the-majors” streak at 41 and his membership in the up-and-coming ranks long since expired, no way he could get by unnoticed.

Posts 34 		Tiger Woods believes that he will have to beat one of the finest golf fields ever assembled and on one of the toughest golf courses ever if he is to win his 3rd straight PGA title and to take his 5th UPGA Championship.
"If you win this championship you have beaten the best field in all of golf."
Woods has won five tournaments since returning from an eight-month absence in February following reconstructive knee surgery(Callaway x-22 Irons).
But he has not won a major in 2009 and missed the cut at the Open.
"It's been a great year either way, for me to come back and play as well as I've done," added Woods, who has not gone through a year without a Major victory since 2004.
"I don't think any of us would have thought I could have won this many events this year.
"I'm very proud of not only winning the golf tournaments but how consistent I've played. The one bad event I've had was missing the cut at the Open(Callaway x-22 Irons)."
Meanwhile, Woods has denied reports he has been fined by the PGA Tour for remarks he made about European Tour chief referee John Paramor, who issued the slow play warning on Sunday, saying he got "in the way of a great battle".
"I've heard from the Tour and there was no fine," Woods added. "That was an erroneous report."
