The first event of the 66 Pro Tour took place on July 13 at Berkhamsted Golf Club where Paul Jones came through to win over 48 other professional golfers.

In an tense finish Paul Jones (Canford) birdied the second hole to win the play-off against Ben Jones after the pair scored 69.

Mike McLean, former winner on the European Tour, and Guy Woodman shared third spot.

Jones said: “It was a great day. I’ll be watching the leaderboard carefully and hope to safeguard a place in the final by playing again at Old Thorns in September.”

On a day where only four players from a high-class field broke par, the venue was highly praised by the players. With prize funds in excess of £8,000, and high quality courses, the new one-day series is proving very popular.

The next stop on the tour is the East course, East Sussex National on August 17. Players can qualify for the final at any one of the events, or they can compete in all four.
