Callaway Diablo Edge Rescue Hybrid

Product Overview
The new Diablo Edge Hybrids have been specifically designed to provide golfers with a more forgiving, distance enhancing alternative to long irons. And with both standard and Tour models, the hybrids are available in a design that will suit all player types.

· Vertical CG Optimization
The club design includes a thinner crown to allow for a lower center of gravity (CG), putting it in-line with where most amateurs strike the ball on the clubface. The result is high, strong trajectories so the ball flies farther and lands softer.
· Unique Sole Design
The unique sole design offers better versatility and playability by creating efficient impact with the face to maximize distance, consistency and accuracy from a variety of turf conditions.
· VFT Technology
Creates higher ball speeds across the entire face, meaning hotter distance with more consistency.
· Offset Hosel
Designed to provide a look that boosts confidence at address and provides greater workability, the offset hosel assists in squaring the clubface at impact. The Tour models have less offset to enhance workability.

topic: China's golf boom not quite proceeding as smoothly

Here's something you don't see every day -- a story about how wonderful things are in China turns out to not be quite so rosy after all. No, you see that story only about every other day.

In this case, the subject is golf. You'll recall that last fall, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and others traveled to Shanghai for a triumphant HSBC golf tournament, and word on the street was that golf in China was rallying.

Alas, it's not quite as smooth as advertised. While there are 20 golf courses in Beijing, only one of them has actually been developed legally, according to a Chinese government official. That course, the Beijing International Golf Club near the Ming Tombs, was the first course built in Beijing, back in 1984. Later courses have included Pine Valley, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and courses that have hosted the China Open.

Since the development of Beijing International Golf Club, however, developers have gone on a mad land-grab for property, snagging acres of choice farmland for new courses. The government put the clamps down on development of all golf courses, allegedly halting them in 2004. But development has continued nonetheless, and the China Golf Association now estimates that there are an estimated 500 courses across the country.

As with much else in China, the issue is a debate between immediate needs and future planning. Carving up prime farming territory for a golf course may not be the wisest use of resources. And while it's important to note that pro golfers have no culpability in this debate, it would be interesting to see a Jack Nicklaus or a Phil Mickelson take a more active role in encouraging environmentally friendly golf course development. Sure, it'd be like trying to chip over the Great Wall, but it'd be worth a try.

_ Checkpoint #1: The first checkpoint is at address. The shaft starts at a
45-degree angle to the ground.
_ Checkpoint #2: Now swing the club back until your left arm is horizontal.
At that point, the club’s butt end (the end of the grip) points directly
along the target line. (The target line is the line between the target and
the ball. That line also continues forward past the target in a straight line
and beyond the ball going in the opposite direction in a straight line.
What I’m talking about in this case is one long, straight line.) If the end of
the grip is pointing along the target line, you’re on plane. If the end of the
grip points above the target line, your swing is too flat, or horizontal; if
the grip end is below the target line, your swing is too upright, or vertical.
_ Checkpoint #3: At the top of your backswing, the club should be parallel
with a line drawn along your heels. That’s on plane. If the club points to
the right of that line, you’ve crossed the line and will probably hook the
shot. A club pointing to the left of that line is said to be laid off. In that
case, expect a slice.
_ Checkpoint #4: Halfway down, at the point where your left arm is again
horizontal, the shaft’s butt end should again point at the target line. This
position and the one described in the second checkpoint on this list are,
in effect, identical in swing-plane terms.
_ Checkpoint #5: Impact is the most important point in the golf swing. If
the clubface is square when it strikes the ball, what you do anywhere
else doesn’t really matter. But if you want to be consistent, try to visualize
impact as being about the same as your address position, except
your hips are aimed more to the left of the target than at the address
position, and your weight is shifting to the left side.
To analyze your swing, use a video, a series of still photos, or a mirror — or
have someone watch you.

Mizuno MP-67 Iron Setfeaturing cut muscle technology offer the ideal combination of solid feel and workability

Continuing the award winning success of Cut MuscleTM technology, the Mizuno product development team has developed a new muscle back iron featuring an innovative "Slender" Cut Muscle design. This new Slender Cut MuscleTM allows the player complete ball control by pin-pointing the COG inside the muscle back design. Utilizing our Grain Flow Forging® and Cut MuscleTM technology, the design team was able to provide a neutral COG relative to the shaft axis and a consistent sweet spot location for exact trajectory and distance control. The cambered sole of the MP-67TM allows the player precise shot making capability from all types of lies. The MP-67TM long irons achieve a mid-high trajectory, while the scoring irons deliver a mid trajectory.

The technology of thePing G15 Iron Setprovides the high-launching, maximum forgiveness benefits that the majority of golfers rely on to bring consistency to their iron play. The stainless steel iron’s cavity design features a new Custom Tuning Port (CTP) which expands the perimeter weighting and increases the moment of inertia. Weight savings from a thinner face is re-positioned to the toe for added forgiveness on mis-hits and its wider sole produces a higher launch angle. Stronger lofts combine with a center of gravity located low and farther from the face to produce longer shots without sacrificing the higher trajectory required in a maximum forgiveness iron.

topic: Karrie Webb wins 7th Australian Ladies Masters

sunjiangyao
Posts 19
Australia (AP)—Karrie Webb won her seventh Australian Ladies Masters title Sunday, closing with a course-record 11-under 61 for a six-stroke victory.

Webb, a stroke ahead of defending champion Katherine Hull and South Korea’s Lee Bo-mee entering the final round, finished at 26-under 262 on the Royal Pines course to match the tournament record she set in 1999.

Webb holed a 9-iron approach from about 125 yards for eagle on the par-4 seventh and made a 30-foot putt on No. 18 for her ninth birdie of the round. She broke the course record of 62 set last year by Kristie Smith.

Hull and Lee, bogey-free in four rounds, shot 66s to tie for second in the event sanctioned by Australian Ladies Professional Golf and the Ladies European Tour.

Webb said she thought about shooting a 59.

“When I stood on 16, I knew I had a four-shot lead, and then I was trying to work out how many under I was,” Webb said. “I thought it was 10 under … I thought I could shoot 59, but I was too tired to get nervous about it.”

Webb said her fatigue resulted from the duel with Hull earlier in the round.

“Katherine was pushing me all the way,” Webb said. “Just when I thought I created some breathing space, she came back with a birdie.

“I am really exhausted. On 13, I was 8 under on the day and still only had a two-shot lead. I was really starting to struggle, mentally tired. I just knew I had to dig deep and make some birdies coming in.”

Hull said Webb played “flawless golf.”

“It was just rock solid,” Hull said. “She was swinging it well all day. I couldn’t make a putt coming in, but it was just absolutely clinic golf on Karrie’s part.”

South Korea’s Seo Hee-kyung (66) was fourth at 19 under, and compatriot Ryu So-yeon (70) followed at 15 under. American Amanda Blumenherst, the leader after the first two rounds, shot a 70 to tie for eighth, 13 strokes behind Webb.

Webb, who shot 64 on Saturday, had several threats to her lead early on the back nine Sunday. She sank a 7-footer for par on the par-3 11th after hitting her tee shot in the bunker. Hull pulled within a stroke with a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-5 12th, but Webb matched her with a 10-footer, restoring her two-stroke lead.

She took a three-stroke lead with four to play when she birdied the 14th and Hull left her birdie attempt short.

The 35-year-old Webb has won seven of the 21 Australian Masters held since 1990, and has played in 19 of them, giving her a winning percentage at Royal Pines of 36 percent. Her first win came in 1998, meaning she has won seven of the past 12.

Laura Davies, who won the New Zealand Women’s Open last week for her 73rd worldwide title, finished with a 71 to tie for 25th, 18 strokes behind Webb.

Davies will defend her Women’s Australian Open title next week at Commonwealth in Melbourne. She will be joined by Webb, Blumenherst and Hull in another combined Australian and Ladies European Tour event.

topic: Freddy Couples might just be the greatest Champion

sunjiangyao
Posts 19
The whole idea of the Champions Tour was to give old codgers, and their equally graying fans, a chance to see their heroes in action one last time, to rage with 9-irons aloft against the dying of the light. Nobody anticipated that somebody would come onto the Champions Tour still in possession of PGA Tour-worthy skills.

Somebody has, and it's getting ugly. In a good way.

On Sunday, Fred Couples won his second straight Champions tournament, the Toshiba Classic. And in the only other tournament he's played, he finished second. First, first, second. Yep, that's a fairly convincing throttling of the field.

Oh, but there's more. Couples currently ranks first on the Champions Tour in driving distance, eagles, scoring average, money and overall ranking, and second in putts per round, par breakers, sand saves, birdie average, putting average, and greens in regulation. That, friends, is utter domination.

Yes, it's three tournaments in. But Couples has the game and the mental makeup to be the best Champions player ever. At age 50, he's a young phenom again.

But he'd better enjoy it while it lasts. Kenny Perry is Champions-eligible this year, and it won't be long before Vijay Singh is too. And then the oldsters will need to start a Senior Champions Tour to get away from these pesky kids.

Callaway X460 Driver
Feature:
The new X-Sole Design allows the clubhead to rest on two distinct points of the sole, preventing any rocking back and forth for consistent alignment to your intended target. The Patented Callaway Golf Technologies - S2H2 and Tru-Bore- make this club hit longer than others. The Short Straight Hollow Hosel (S2H2) allows Callaway Golf's engineers to take the useless weight found in the hosel and reposition it in the clubhead where you need it most, allowing you to hit the ball harder without swinging harder. Tru-Bore means the shaft is closer to the hitting area, providing better feel and clubhead control.

The CT/VFT face creates ball speed up to the USGA limits of characteristic time. With a more robust face, the new X460 creates more consistent distance - even on off-center shots, and the ultra high-tech titanium face is robotically plasma-welded to the body, ensuring that the face thickness is controlled to a very tight tolerance for consistent performance.

The 460 head size allows Callaway Golf engineers to move more weight to the perimeter of the clubhead to increase the Moment of Inertia, making it the most forgiving all-titanium driver ever from Callaway Golf.

As expected, Woods did not enter the field for next week's CA Championship at Doral, marking the first time he'll miss that World Golf Championship event. Players had until 5 p.m. Friday to commit to that event.
In all, 64 players will be at Doral, including Steve Stricker and Phil Mickelson, the two players immediately behind Woods in the world ranking.Woods resumed practicing about a week ago but has not said when he'll play again. He has won on Doral's Blue Monster three times in his career.

The AP2's high-tech, multi-material construction features a steel body, tungsten nickel sole, elastomer bar and aluminum cavity plate. AP2 is built to deliver both performance and feel. The dual cavity design of the Titleist AP2 irons pushes weight to the perimeter for forgiveness. A central cross member featuring a soft elastomer cushion provides structural rigidity behind the impact area while also dampening face vibration for better overall feel. The lower cavity of theTitleist AP2 Iron Setis enclosed by a tungsten nickel box. This high-density material locates the weight low and deep while providing structural rigidity and low frequency vibration dampening for outstanding solid feel. The tungsten nickel box helps reduce the sole and back flange width for better turf performance and shot control.

Titleist AP2 Iron Setprovide a comfortable and confidence-inspiring appearance in the set up position with a traditional blade profile and hosel junction. The metallic back cavity plate contributes to the AP2's great looks and bag appeal.

To build the most forgiving all-stainless steel set of golf clubs Callaway Golf has ever developed, the engineers set aside conventional thinking, utilized innovative technologies and have redefined the shape of super game-improvement. The 2008 Big Bertha Irons take forgiveness to new heights by integrating a set of clubs featuring the new i-brids, clubs designed to replace hard-to-hit long irons. Callaway FT-5 Driver
The new FT-5 Driver is the latest evolution in clubhead design, utilizing Callaway's revolutionary Fusion Technology. A massive 50 grams of discretionary weight has been created using a Carbon Fiber Body - creating the OptiFit Weighting System that produces the perfect center of gravity position for any particular player. The larger, hotter CT/VFT Titanium cup face is designed to the legal limit, resulting in increased ball speed, distance and forgiveness - even on miss-hits.

Features:
1.The carbon composite body is lighter than titanium, this construction improves stability and distance
2.CT/VFT titanium cup face is Callaway's largest, hottest face for increased ball speed on shots hit all over the face
3.The 460cc head design is incorporated with a longer, wider and hotter face for more confidence at address, a higher MOI and increased ball speed for longer, straighter drives
4.Fusion Technology creates an unprecedented 50 grams of discretionary weight which is strategically positioned for a high Moment of Inertia and precise lateral location of the center of gravity. Features:
Building upon the high technology design and resounding success of the original AP irons, Titleist introduces the new high performance AP2 irons for avid golfers. The

Titleist AP2 are multi-material, dual cavity irons that take the design mission of "Advanced Performance You Can Feel" to new heights. The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel. The Titleist R&D team’s advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons. This research led to combining several technologies and materials in the back cavity of the new AP irons resulting in a new Tuned Feel System to take feel to a new level. The new Tuned Feel System is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate. This insert has been specifically designed to improve the sound and feel of each new iron. For the new AP2, a softer, more solid feel is achieved. Other subtle refinements to the new AP2 have created performance gains in feel, sound, and turf interaction.

Large, thin, high-strength steel clubface promotes high COR for faster ball speed and increased distance

» Extra-large clubhead with tungsten weights increases MOI for greater stability and forgiveness.

» SuperFast Technology reduces total club weight and promotes faster swing speed for added distance

» Inverted Cone Technology expands the high COR zone to promote higher ball speed on off-center hits for more distance shot to shot

» Hollow topline allows CG to be moved back deep in the clubhead for incredibly easy launch on a towering, distance-enhancing flight

By using Taylormade R7 CGB , you can adjust the length with the wrench torque.I believe you can find the most fit length. then gain better score.

DOUG MILNE: Anthony Kim, thanks for joining us for a few minutes after a successful second round of the Honda Classic, 6-under 64 today, seven birdies and just one bogey, obviously feeling good as you head into the weekend.

ANTHONY KIM: I feel really good. I've been working hard on my game, and the last couple of months I've really started to play getter. Haven't put four good rounds together. Happy to have another opportunity to putt four good ones together and hopefully have a chance to win the tournament on the back nine.
Q. There are a bunch of 64s out there, including yours, did you think it was going to be that kind of a day where you would need to score as low as that to make moves up the board?
ANTHONY KIM: I haven't even been thinking about what I'm going to shoot. I didn't have a goal, a number in mind, but just to go out there and hit some quality golf shots, it's been a long time since I've been able to have confidence and fire at some flags and be able to be aggressive and feel comfortable in that situation.
So I'm really happy with how I'm playing. It's just a matter of time before I put four good ones together and start winning some golf tournaments again.

The irons generate better distance than other forged clubs because of a lower, deeper center of gravity that promotes a strong, penetrating trajectory. The undercut cavity improves stability on off-center hits and the thin, energy-efficient face increases ball speeds.

All the beginners at first feel frustrated playing this game. Really, looking at golf professionals we think, why, it's so simple. I will learn to do it without big efforts'. But when you start, you understand that the game is rather complicated. This article is mainly devoted to the beginners, who need some good golf tips.

The First Experience

It may make you really upset. You are disappointed in your score, your putts are done badly, to put it mildly. You start to think you will never learn bunker play. Little by little, your mood is worsening, you lose sense of humor and, finally, you become so irritated that you want to swear out loud. Some mates who play with you may try to explain to you what is better to do. But such golf tips are not professional, and sometimes they are mutually contradictory. So, rely on yourself and start with following...

Some Golf Tips for the Beginners..

So, what to start with? No doubt, you need some good quality instruction at first. You should look for several instructors and talk to them. That is necessary, for you shouldn't choose the first instructor you find, because his teaching style may not match your style of learning. That is why you need an opportunity to decide between two or more variants.

The next thing is attending series of lessons. One or two studies will not help. You need to practice under the direction of the instructor as long as possible. If you can't afford it for this or that reason you may resort to self-education with the use of DVD's and books, which also offer some useful golf tips. Nowadays there is also plenty information on how to learn to play golf on the Internet.

Appropriate equipment is also sufficient. First of all, it applies to the set of golf clubs you hit the ball with. You need different types of clubs for definite purposes during the game. The clubs should be qualitative and solid. It must be said, that a set of brand new clubs costs a lot, so you may buy some used clubs for the first time.

You should pay more attention to your pitching, putting and chipping than to the driver. And finally, you should have a mental game plan. It is important to realize that golf is a game where you should limit the amount of bad shots and enjoy the good ones.

In conclusion it should be said that following golf tips you are given will help you to determine your own counsel on how to play better. You will learn what you manage to do sumptuously and what your weak points are. You will be no more frustrated for you will know what exactly you should work on.
